Vardavard Center for Mentally Handicapped Children

The Vardavard Welfare Centre for mentally handicapped children was founded privately 40 years ago. The center functions primarily for mentally handicapped children and supports over 2700 children, 290 of which are orphans and stay in the center. With the Islamic Revolution in 1979 the center was nationalized. Today it is the only welfare center authorized to support handicapped girls in Tehran.
Maadiran was instrumental in the foundation of the center 40 years ago and in it’s subsequent growth. The group regularly sources and provides food and medicine for the children. It has also invested in significant capital infrastructure projects for the center including the establishment of a full fitness facility including gym and semi-olympic size pool, bathrooms, all the beds, and electronic patient monitoring systems. The Group continues to support the welfare center through regular CSR activities.
